Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a nursery often comes with plenty of questions. We have created this FAQ page to give families clear, straightforward information about The Tots Team, our childcare, nursery rooms, fees, routines and what to expect when your child joins us.

About Our Nursery And Childcare

What Age Children Do You Care For?

We provide childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years across three age-appropriate nursery rooms:

  • Baby Tots: 3 months to 24 months
  • Big Tots: 2 to 3 years
  • Bigger Tots: 3 to 5 years

Each room supports children’s development through age-appropriate play, routines and learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

We are a family-run nursery focused on creating a warm, caring and personal home-from-home environment.

Children benefit from a dedicated Key Person, free phased settling-in sessions, regular parent communication, age-appropriate nursery spaces, outdoor learning and freshly prepared meals.

We are also proud to have won Daynurseries.co.uk awards in both 2025 and 2026, providing further independent recognition for families choosing childcare in Leeds.

Settling In And Daily Nursery Life

How Do You Help Children Settle Into Nursery?

We provide free, phased settling-in sessions so children can gradually become familiar with the nursery, their Key Person and their new surroundings.

For babies and younger children, we also take time to understand familiar sleep, feeding and care routines, helping to make the transition into nursery as reassuring as possible.

We keep parents informed through regular communication, daily handovers and our online nursery communication platform.

Updates can include meals, sleep, activities, routines and general wellbeing, helping families stay connected with their child’s nursery experience.

Safety, Ofsted And Trust

Are Nursery Staff DBS Checked And Paediatric First Aid Trained?

Yes. At The Tots Team, we carry out strict Enhanced DBS checks for nursery practitioners, and all staff are paediatric first aid trained.

These measures form an important part of our wider approach to safeguarding, helping us provide a caring environment where children can feel safe and secure.

The Tots Team is an Ofsted-registered early years provider.

Ofsted feedback highlights important strengths including a caring and inclusive environment, positive relationships between children and practitioners, strong partnerships with parents, and children feeling safe, secure, happy and settled.

Safeguarding arrangements have also been found to be effective.

We encourage families to consider the complete findings when researching their childcare options.

You can view The Tots Team’s official Ofsted inspection document and read the supporting report for more information.
