Our Nursery Environment
We consider the spaces around your child to be like their third teacher, joining you as parents and us as educators in guiding them through their learning. Our rooms and environments consist of a dedicated, Baby Tots Room, Big Tots Room, Two Outdoor Play Areas, Preschool Environment and a Sensory Room.
We keep many aspects of our nursery environments consistent as we know your child will benefit greatly from this. With core resources, enriching toys, games and creative materials, that are always at hand for your child to play with. Furthermore, it is not unusual for parts of our nursery to become a magical and adventurous place where your child’s imagination can run free.
Our Spaces
Baby Tots Room
Our baby tots room offers so much for the youngest children at our nursery, providing them with a space that caters for their developing needs. Space for cosy cuddles and stretches in their infancy, toys and activities to boost their physical development – rolling, sitting, standing, and striding. A place for that all-important exploration as they begin to make their mark on their little world. To support this, babies get more space per individual child than the older children at the nursery, enabling them to master their movement and interactions before progressing on their nursery journey.
Big Tots Room
Around the age of 24 months, the children progress to the Big Tots room, introducing them to a world of possibility. We carefully design the layout and equipment to give toddlers many opportunities to challenge themselves through exploring freely to manipulate and master the toys, games and learning resources.
In these rooms, we see your child introduced to caring for themselves and taking their first steps towards independence with potties, toilets and sinks available within the area where your child will be supported, guided, and encouraged. You will notice that we have many familiar household items and features available for your child to play with, this supports your child’s natural desire to imitate what they see you and other adults do around them, with smaller versions designed with their development solely in mind.
Outdoor Surroundings
Growing up, many of us might have been told at some point to go outside and find something to do.
Today, especially in a typical school setting, it seems children are being told less and less to go outside, as they are encouraged to stay inside and study more. At The Tots Team come rain or shine, we have 2 dedicated outdoor play areas where playtime is a time where children engage in unstructured play, which is not directed by adults, although supervised. Outdoor play time is an opportunity for a child to freely play, or think the way they want to think, and not be directed by an adult or teacher. This type of thinking enables the child to use the brain the way they wish to use it. Children are also physically active during play, and develop social, emotional and cognitive competencies.
Sensory Room
To bring some further fun and learning to our children. we have turned to the creation of our own in-house sensory room, providing a haven of calm and control within the nursery's lively setting. Our room is not just alternative environment for our children with sensory disorders, but they also serve as therapeutic space for facilitating other types of interventions, such as noise therapy and social development .The benefits of our sensory room are manifold. We provide a tranquil space where children can retreat from the sensory overload of the typical nursery environment. This can significantly reduce stress and anxiety, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life and development. Not to mention the development of a child's sensory skills, such as visual development and visual stimulation.
